"Last Parade"

So today marked the end of five and a half years of service to air and army cadets. This was Rachel's last parade as a cadet.
Yes I did get a little emotional on the drive over as I began to reflect on the past two and a half years as an army cadet. Not only for what the program did for Rachel and the opportunities it presented to her in her young life, but I think more importantly, how Rachel has affected the lives of many young teenagers over the course of the three years. She took cadets seriously and did her job as DSM (drill Sergeant major) seriously, but more importantly, she was there if she saw a hurting child. This is what drew her to the field of social work.
Here she is receiving her CO's certificate of service and I did manage to get a few pictures tonight of the parade.
That's all for tonight. Sorry for the lack of pages. Will have some in the near future for you.

Yes, it was. The program gave her many opportunites to experience things that otherwise would not have come her way. She made friends and also it gave her leadership training that is most valuable.

I've been thinking of that...and you will come home and tell us the stories, and we'll all laugh with you. I'm sure she will be down there periodically.
